First Mention of the Holy Spirit Infilling and Speaking With Tongues
“For with stammering lips and another tongue, He will speak to this people, to whom He said, “This is the rest with which you may cause the weary to rest,” And, “This is the refreshing.” Isaiah 28:11
God’s voice showing you His will and giving you guidance.
Speaking in tongues brings rest and refreshing.
Jesus’ First Mention of the Holy Spirit Ministry to His Disciples
“And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.” John 14:16,17
The world cannot receive the Holy Spirit until they receive Jesus first.
He is with us, as a continuation of the Old Testament ministry.
He would later be in them as a new ministry for the New Testament.
What is the Holy Spirit’s Main Ministry to Us?
“And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; 5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” 6 Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:4-8
This last ministry of the Holy Spirit was introduced just before Jesus left to return to heaven.
This ministry was the Holy Spirit upon them.
Before the Day of Pentecost it was called the baptism of the Holy Spirit. From the Day of Pentecost, it was called being filled with the Holy Spirit.
Speaking in tongues gives you power to witness.
Speaking in tongues was not used to witness as some teach.
No one on the streets of Jerusalem was saved until Peter quit speaking in tongues and gave the gospel in a known language.
The Primary Ministry of the Holy Spirit is Revealing Redemption
“Nevertheless, I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. 8 And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 of sin, because they do not believe in Me; 10 of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; 11 of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.” John 16:7-11
Go out with a view to witness today.
Depend on the Holy Spirit to open doors and arrange meetings.
a. When you speak to people, depend on the Holy Spirit for words to say and Holy Spirit gifts of word of knowledge, healing, miracles.
Salvation is the doorway into the fruit, the infilling into the gifts.
When the Ephesians disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit, “they spoke with tongues and prophesied” (Acts 19:6).
Jesus Never Won Any Two People the Same Way
By His preaching (John 8:30).
By the gifts of the Spirit. Especially the word of knowledge (John 1:50, John 4:39).
By healing the sick and miracles (John 11:45, John 7:31)
a. When the people brought in the sick, they did not ask if they were saved first. Jesus healed everyone – sinners and saints.
b. Many received salvation because of their healing.
c. Some, after seeing, did not believe on Him (John 12:37).
Two Parts to the Great Commission
Soulwinning (Mark 16:15-18).
Discipleship (Matthew 28:18-20).

c. The goal of a Christian is to do good to all men and especially those of the household of faith.

Peter raised Dorcas from the dead (Acts 9:42).
Without Signs and Wonders, You Are Not Fully Preaching the Gospel
“For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ has not accomplished through me, in word and deed, to make the Gentiles obedient— 19 in mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God, so that from Jerusalem and round about to Illyricum I have fully preached the gospel of Christ.” Romans 15:18, 19
God’s Highest Priority In the Earth
“Scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation. But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years and a thousand years as one day.
9 The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:3-4, 8, 9
When is God going to do something about abortion, child sex slavery, Christian tortures, and martyrs?
Every day Jesus does not come back is one more day for one more person to accept Jesus and fulfill the Great Commission (Luke 21:28).
