The Blessing of Not Knowing
There are many things the scriptures tell us we do not know and should not know.
“The secret things belong to the Lord.”
This does not mean God is totally sovereign over our death or the time of the rapture. Both have some flexibility.
Even as born-again, Spirit-filled, and Word-filled Christians, we do not know everything.
We Do Not Know:
What will happen tomorrow? “You do not know what will happen tomorrow…” (James 4:14).
How to pray every time. “For we do not know what to pray for as we ought” (Romans 8:26).
The time of our death. “I am old, I know not the day of my death” (Genesis 27:2).
How we should proceed in every situation. “I do not know how to go out or come in” (1 Kings 3:7).
The day of the coming of Jesus. “You do not know what hour your Lord will come” (Matthew 24:42).
Timing of end-time events. “You do not know the times or seasons which are in my Father’s authority” (Acts 1:7).
But, You Might Say:
Doesn’t the word tell us the Holy Spirit will show us things to come? But - the Holy Spirit does not show us everything to come.
Isn’t one of the gifts of the Spirit a word of knowledge? It isn’t a gift of knowledge but a word, a piece of knowledge, not all knowledge.
If we knew everything, where would the walk of faith be?
The Holy Spirit can alert you to problems facing you. You may be unaware of what you are walking into.
a. Only God is omniscient.
b. If you show someone their future they have no future.
But, The Good News Is:
God is not and never has been taken by surprise.
I may not know what will happen tomorrow, but I do know it will turn out alright.
God’s promises and grace are always sufficient.
a. Every day grows brighter.
b. I also know that whatever storm I am in, I will make it to the other side.
Unless God has told you specifically what will happen in our nation by the end of this year, we do not know for sure.
What I Do Know:
I do know the righteous will not be forsaken.
a. I do know the gates of hell will not prevail against the Church.
b. I also know the gospel will be preached, souls will be won, and signs and wonders will continue.
c. Although, at times, it looks like Satan is winning and the Church is losing. Satan is temporary and the Church is eternal.
d. The victories of a loser are temporary. So are the losses of a winner.
No matter what conditions look like in your church, you cannot continue to seek God, preach the word and keep your trust in Him and go under.
Your time of reaping, due season will come. No man promised it, God did. Your answers are not complicated.
Here Are Some Simple Things To Do To Ensure Victory
Continue to faithfully study God’s word. This should not be just teachings, but for your own personal growth and knowledge of God.
Maintain a constant prayer life. Your fellowship and communion with God help you hear the voice of the Spirit when He guides. Most important, in this area, is praying in the Spirit - in tongues.
Keep a life of thanksgiving and praise. God wants us to give praise and thanksgiving in every situation. You have heard it before, but praise is the highest form of faith. It gives thanks for what we do not yet see.
Never stop giving into the gospel and God’s kingdom. Seeds sown in faith and love always come back. God wants us to give in to every good work.
Be consistent to attend good meetings with good ministers that help to keep you on the right path.
